Fisherman, Disciple, Apostle: the Life of Peter

| The life of Peter comes closer to us than any of his fellow apostles. Drawn from the ranks of very ordinary fisherman in an obscure village on the Lake of Galilee, Peter is so human, so much like one of us in his weakness. Strong, fiery, impulsive, and self-assertive, he could be consumed with passion at one moment, then cold as the snows of Lebanon the next. It required the Saviors insight to discover an apostle in Simon Peter; and the Saviors patience to draw out the latent qualities of his character that speak in every paragraph of his epistles and equipped him to be the leader of the early Church. If the Master could do so much for Peter, what might He not also do in our lives?
