Gold, Frankincense, and Myrrh
Gold, frankincense and myrrh, the three giftsoffered by the Magi to Christ our LORD, are full of meaning and symbolism. What does each one of these gifts mean in our walk with the LORD, and what do the three gifts together mean? How can we offer these gifts, and what is the most precious of gifts that God seeks from us? In his homily Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh, His Holiness Pope Shenouda III (1923-2012), the 117th Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of Saint Mark, throws light on these questions and describes how are LORD Himself was gold, frankincense and myrrh. Two other homilies are contained within, namely, You Blessed My Nature in You and Efficacies of the Nativity. Drawing upon many years in the life of monastic life in the desert of Egypt and many years in the life of ministry in the See of Saint Mark, His Holiness Pope Shenouda III gives insight on how, by following in the footsteps of our LORD, we can gain practical benefit for our life from the glorious Feast of the Nativity.
