The Life of the Martyr Saint Mercurius
Saint Philopater Mercurius, also known as Saint Mercury, was a soldier martyr who was born c.225 AD, in Scythia. His parents were pagan, but God enlightened them with the light of Christian Faith, and they came to know Him, the true God, the Creator of heaven and earth. Saint Mercurius was a valiant commander in the Roman army. He endured persecution and torture at the hands of Emperor Decius, and suffered martyrdom upon the emperors orders on 4th December 250 AD, when he was twenty-five years old.
